Aim of the Course:
The 11th grade Honors Program (Social Studies American History Advanced Placement) is designed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement Examination. This course requires a commitment by the student to complete extensive college-level reading and writing assignments. Students examine the social, economic and political history of the
United States from colonial times to the present. All students will take the American History Advanced Placement examination and the United States History and Government Regents exam.

Materials Needed:
- 1. The American Pageant (Bring the book home and leave it until the end of the year)
- 2. Three Subject Spiral Notebook for Homework (Leave at home and bring in on assigned days)
- 3. The American Spirit Volume I and II
- 4. Amsco Review book for United States Advanced Placement History. (see website for the isbn)
- 5. Pens, pencils, and highlighters are necessary everyday
- 6. A 3 ring binder/notebook for classroom notes and assignments
- 7. Folder to keep all test material and other handouts
Grading Policy:
For each quarter, the grade will be determined based on the following factors. Two or three times per quarter you will be given the opportunity at extra help to reconcile your grades in my gradebook to the ones you have in your folder.
1. Tests and Quizzes 60%
2. Homework 30%
3. Class Participation 10%
